The Hillman Laboratory is a joint venture between the Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine department and the Genomic Medicine department at Â鶹ӳ» MD Anderson Cancer Center. A major focus of the Hillman Lab is pioneering our understanding of the molecular pathogenesis of ovarian granulosa cell tumors. The lab¡¯s work in this area is motivated by Dr. Hillman¡¯s busy international referral practice providing medical and surgical treatment for women affected by this disease. A key long-term goal of the Hillman Lab is to discover new granulosa cell tumor therapeutic vulnerabilities and use these innovations to launch novel early-phase clinical trials focused on this rare disease.

Members of the lab employ multidisciplinary computational and experimental approaches that utilize a combination of genetically engineered mouse models, human tissue from institutional biobanks and cell culture model systems to:
- identify promising therapeutic vulnerabilities using unbiased high-throughput screening
- construct and analyze novel cell culture and animal model systems
- generate pre-clinical translational data to support rational clinical trial design for rare gynecologic cancers
