Bisrat Debeb received?his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree with high honors from Addis Ababa?University in 1999 and his Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences from Texas A&M?University in 2008. He then joined Dr. Woodward¡¯s lab at MD Anderson as a postdoctoral fellow. Currently, Dr. Debeb is an Associate Professor?with Tenure in the department of Breast Medical Oncology, division of Cancer?Medicine.

Xiaoding Hu, M.D., Ph.D.

Xiaoding Hu obtained her M.D. from the department of Clinical Medical Diagnostics of Changzhi Medical College in China in 2011 and received her Ph.D. from the department of Human Genetics, Fudan University in 2017. Dr Hu joined the Debeb Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in 2018 and was promoted to an instructor in 2022.

Emilly S. Villodre, B.S., M.S., Ph.D.

Emilly Villodre received her bachelor¡¯s degree in biological sciences at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS, Brazil) in 2010, and her master¡¯s degree (2012) and her Ph.D. degree (2016) in cell and molecular biology at the UFRGS. Dr. Villodre joined the Debeb Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in 2017 and was promoted to an instructor in 2023.

Kiros Haddish Tesfamariam, Ph.D.

Kiros Haddish Tesfamariam earned his B.S. (2011) and M.S. (2015) in biotechnology from the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. He taught at Mekelle Institute of Technology and Ayder Comprehensive Specialized Hospital before completing his Ph.D. in biotechnology at Daegu University, South Korea, in 2023. He joined the Debeb Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow in August 2024.

Lan Phi, Ph.D.

Lan Phi earned her Bachelor of Science in biotechnology in August 2015 and her Master of Science in medi-bio science in February 2018. She completed her Ph.D. in Cancer Biology, Clinical Translational Oncology Track, in May 2025 at the MD Anderson UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. In June 2025, she joined the Debeb Laboratory as a postdoctoral fellow.
