Cancer Care Delivery
The Broman Lab¡¯s cancer care delivery research addresses strategies used by health systems and networks to ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based cancer care. Our team previously identified that quality of care varies among hospitals in the same health system, and certain systems more reliably provide high-quality care than others. The Broman Lab team is using quantitative and qualitative (interview-based) research methods to develop strategies that health systems can use to improve cancer care quality. This work has benefited from funding by the National Institutes of Health, American Society of Clinical Oncology, American College of Surgeons and philanthropic support.

Cancer Survivorship
The Broman Lab examines the long-term and late-effects of treatments for cancer including surgery and immunotherapy and seeks to define optimal surveillance practices to monitor for cancer recurrence. We have previously described the incidence of skin cancer in patients who undergo blood or marrow transplant (BMT) and identified novel factors that place patients at higher risk for certain skin cancers. We are now exploring the effects of immunotherapy including subsequent skin cancer and other chronic health conditions. Our survivorship work in melanoma has been funded by the Melanoma Research Foundation.
