Appointment InformationWe all experience many emotions ¨C including love, grief, fear, anger and joy ¨C and patients fighting cancer can add stress to the list. You can learn to manage your feelings and lessen your stress by identifying coping mechanisms.
Because stress can weaken your immune system and make it harder for you to remain healthy, try these relaxation tips:
Don¡¯t be afraid to talk to your doctor or nurse about your feelings and the amount of stress in your life. Let them know if fear is keeping you from making decisions about your treatment or if you are having conflict in your relationships.
You may also feel better by connecting with other patients through a support group or one-on-one connection. Or, your doctor can give you a referral to our counseling services.
Senior Social Work counselors Malory Lee and Traci Newsom discuss ways you can appreciate the holidays and find joy even when faced with cancer.
