Events & Activities
As part of the Pathway in Systems Imaging Summer Program, interns participate in a series of laboratory-led tours designed to broaden their exposure to the diverse research areas within the Department of Cancer Systems Imaging. Faculty and staff guide students through active research labs, shared insights into cutting-edge technologies, and introduce them to the collaborative, multidisciplinary approaches that drive discoveries within the department.
A highlight of these tours is a visit to the Small Animal Imaging Facility, where interns learn how advanced imaging modalities are applied in preclinical research to study cancer biology and evaluate novel therapies. The experience provides a behind-the-scenes look at the powerful tools and resources that support translational imaging research. A featured photo captures students engaged in the facility, underscoring the program¡¯s emphasis on hands-on learning and exploration.
Chili cookoff and Ice Cream Social
One highlight of the Pathway in Systems Imaging Summer Program is our C-S-I (Chili, Science, Ice Cream) event, a fun tradition that brings together faculty, staff, and students in the Department of Cancer Systems Imaging. The day kicks off with a spirited chili cookoff, where departmental members compete for prizes with their best recipes. This is followed by our Friday Forum seminar, where summer research interns present their projects to the department, showcasing the exciting science they have accomplished over the summer. The event concludes with a casual ice cream social, giving everyone a chance to celebrate, network, and enjoy a sweet treat together.
